"The Warriers Cry" By Jeremy Kelly
When told to make a life size person out of clay I thought to myself that the potability's are enlist. I was told that the project was for experience right from the get go, But knowing myself when I do something i go all out to try and get my expression, message, and emotion out. I didn't want to not just make a life size person. I want to make a life size expression. A figure that makes you think and wonder why. Right from the beginning i thought of making an Indian throwing a spear. But i saw right from the beginning i was not getting the legs the way i wanted them. So i changed the stance to a strong pose of a warrior holding his tomahawk in the air yelling. I didn't know what i was getting myself into until the cracks started to show up every where. The funny thing is that my first crack that showed up started to crack right down the butt crack of the figure. Even with the set backs i knew i had to push on. I had to fight throw ever thing so that this warrior could show his story and fight for his emotion. The reasons of an Indian was because i have some Indian blood in me and the big reason was that his land we live on was once roamed by the Indian until, It was take with a lot of blood shed to do so. I just don't want people to forget what happened to make this land be called America. I finished the body and that night i had a dream of the piece holding a bloody tomahawk on a hill over a valley yelling and fighting to keep his land alive. The next night i couldn't sleep because i kept thinking of the blood, so much blood. I feel that the blood is a big part of this piece. I feel that allot of Americans have Indian blood in them. I feel that this land is pulsing with the Indian blood that was shed trying to fight for their land. I know you might think the blood is a over kill. Get it "over kill" "blood" haha. Any who, The Warrior is a fighter, A fighter for his land, A fighter for his Family, A fighter for what he believes in. So This piece is a tribute to all the blood shed and Indian Warriors that fought for everything that they believed in what was right.
